Contractors or homeowners can apply for permits online or in person, with the city promising a fast-track process, particularly after storms, and subsequent inspections to enforce compliance. The permit requirement excludes minor repairs under 500 square feet and new construction projects. City officials emphasize that the ordinance enhances oversight and helps stop unscrupulous contractors from taking advantage of vulnerable homeowners after storms.
