Missing Ian Brady Pages Could Reveal Burial Site of Keith Bennett
The last 200 pages of Moors murderer Ian Brady's unpublished manuscript, titled Black Light, may contain crucial information about the abduction, murder, and burial of his final victim, 12-year-old Keith Bennett, whose body has never been found. Brady, alongside Myra Hindley, was convicted in the 1960s for murdering five children, four of whom were buried on Saddleworth Moor, but Bennett's remains remain undiscovered despite confessions in 1987. The incomplete manuscript, which stops before the murder of John Kilbride, was left with Brady’s solicitor and has not been fully released; Brady’s victim's brother, Alan Bennett, has urged that any missing material be made available to police as it could provide vital clues. The BBC documentary The Moors Murders – A Search For Justice revealed the manuscript's existence and uncovered defense files from Brady and Hindley's trial, raising new questions about the victims' graves. Theologian Alan Keightley, who interviewed Brady extensively before his death, published a book based on those sessions and his widow has granted access to his archive, including the manuscript. Solicitors connected to Brady have yet to respond to inquiries about the missing pages, leaving hope that their eventual disclosure could aid in locating Keith Bennett's burial site.
