Multiple HBCUs Lock Down After Terroristic Threats Nationwide

Multiple Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the United States, including Southern University, Alabama State University, Hampton University, Virginia State University, Clark Atlanta University, Bethune-Cookman University, and Spelman College, received threats on Thursday, prompting lockdowns, shelter-in-place orders, and cancellations of classes and campus activities. These threats came a day after the shooting death of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, raising concerns about campus safety. While the FBI has classified the threats as hoaxes with no current indication of credibility, the agency continues to work closely with local and federal law enforcement to investigate and ensure safety. University officials and lawmakers, such as Rep. Jasmine Crockett and Rep. Troy Carter, expressed deep concern over the trauma these threats cause and called for vigorous efforts to hold those responsible accountable.
