Producer Sues Director for Contract Breach

Sophia Paul, the producer of the hit Malayalam film 'RDX', has filed a lawsuit against director Nahas Hidhayath, seeking over Rs 1 crore in compensation for breach of contract after he allegedly failed to direct a second film for her production company. The lawsuit claims that Nahas received an advance of Rs 40 lakh for this second film but later withdrew from the project, despite having a contractual obligation to continue. Nahas disputes the claims, stating he never signed a contract beyond 'RDX' and had been waiting for ten months for a follow-up project that never materialized. The Ernakulam sub-court has summoned Nahas to appear on August 6, though he claims he has not received any summons yet. Additionally, there are ongoing allegations against the producers regarding financial mismanagement from another investor, Anjana Abraham, who claims she was not compensated adequately for her investment in 'RDX'. This legal battle highlights the complexities and disputes often surrounding successful film productions.
