Frisco Police Arrest Dallas Capital Murder Suspect After Traffic Stop
Frisco police arrested Jonathan Elizalde, 21, of Dallas, a suspect wanted for capital murder and theft of property in Dallas County, after a traffic stop escalated into a foot pursuit. During the stop on Stonebrook Parkway, an officer detected marijuana and asked the occupants to exit the vehicle, prompting Elizalde to flee on foot. Police deployed drones and conducted a search after a resident reported a man jumping a fence; Elizalde was found hiding under bushes nearby. A handgun and marijuana were recovered from the vehicle, which was driven by Genccis Barrientos Echeverria, 25, of Garland, who was charged with possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Elizalde also faces an additional charge for evading arrest or detention on foot. Frisco Police Chief David Shilson praised the officers’ quick response and the community's assistance in apprehending the suspect, emphasizing the dangers officers face during routine stops and affirming that the community is safer with the suspect behind bars.
