Cat Cafes Open in Richmond, Greenfield Offering Adoption, Community Spaces

Two new cat cafes are opening in the U.S., offering unique spaces for cat lovers to enjoy beverages and potentially adopt cats. Richmond, Virginia's The Purrfect Bean will open on August 15, featuring a two-story, feline-themed environment where customers can book 50-minute sessions to interact with adoptable cats from the local Purring Hearts VA foster agency. Pricing is set at $20 on weekdays and $25 on weekends, with the café aiming to promote cat adoptions and provide a welcoming, maximalist design. Meanwhile, Western Massachusetts has welcomed its first cat cafe, Camelot Cat Cafe in Greenfield, which opened with a soft launch and operates by appointment only, charging $10 for 15 minutes with rescue cats in an 800-square-foot space. The Camelot Cat Cafe plans to partner with a regional shelter to house and adopt out stray cats and hopes to eventually allow walk-in visits. Both cafes emphasize fostering cat adoptions and creating comforting environments for patrons to connect with cats in need of homes.
