Mitsubishi Elevance Concept Debuts; Drivetrain Unclear

Mitsubishi unveiled the Elevance concept at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, a three-row, six-seat “Luxe Adventurer” plug-in hybrid SUV with a capsule-like greenhouse and lounge-style interior whose large-capacity traction battery can power a matching glamping trailer with a kitchen and shower. Its PHEV powertrain pairs a large battery and a high-efficiency gasoline engine (said to run on carbon‑neutral fuels) with a quad-motor layout that uses in‑wheel front motors up front and dual-motor Active Yaw Control at the rear to enable an advanced Super All‑Wheel Control system. Mitsubishi has not confirmed whether the engine mechanically drives the wheels or functions solely as a generator (an extended‑range EV), leaving the exact drivetrain topology and battery size unspecified. The Elevance emphasizes off‑road capability and ride stability—body control and AYC are intended to reduce wobble and motion sickness—while interior features include pillar‑to‑pillar displays, a steering‑wheel screen, a flat floor with swiveling seats, and an AI “Co‑Driver” that learns preferences and suggests routes and drive modes. Mitsubishi said the design could preview a next‑generation Outlander or Pajero but gave no timetable or confirmation of production plans.
