Iran Denies Receiving US Nuclear Proposal Amid Conflicting Claims
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has repeatedly stated that Iran has not received any written proposal from the United States regarding a new nuclear deal, contradicting President Donald Trump's claims that such a proposal was delivered and urging Iran to act quickly. Araghchi described U.S. messaging as confusing and contradictory, emphasizing Iran's firm stance on maintaining its right to uranium enrichment for peaceful purposes as guaranteed under the Non-Proliferation Treaty. Despite ongoing Oman-mediated negotiations and productive trilateral talks with Qatar and Oman, Iran insists that sanctions must be lifted and its rights respected for any deal to proceed. Iran has also warned against any imposition and reiterated its commitment to peaceful nuclear development while threatening severe consequences if attacked by the U.S. or Israel. The situation remains tense with Iran enriching uranium beyond limits set in the previous 2015 agreement but not yet to weapons-grade levels, and both sides are engaged in cautious diplomacy amidst escalating pressures and sanctions.
