Julie Davis appointed interim U.S. chargé d'affaires in Ukraine

Julie Davis, currently the U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus, has been appointed by President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as the interim chargé d’affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine following the resignation of Ambassador Bridget Brink. Davis will lead the diplomatic mission in Kyiv during a critical period as Washington seeks to broker a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia and to strengthen bilateral relations. She brings over 30 years of diplomatic experience, having previously served as ambassador and special representative for Belarus, deputy assistant secretary of state for Western Europe and the EU, and deputy permanent representative to NATO. Davis will serve in this interim role until a new ambassador is nominated and confirmed, while maintaining her responsibilities as ambassador to Cyprus. Her dual appointment underscores the administration's strategic focus on Ukraine and highlights her trusted standing within the State Department. The expanded role is expected to reinforce U.S. relations with both Ukraine and Cyprus.
