Foyle Cup 2025 Begins with 950 Teams Across Derry, Donegal, Tyrone

The 2025 O’Neills Foyle Cup, one of Europe’s premier youth football tournaments, has kicked off in Derry~Londonderry with nearly 1,000 teams from around the world participating in approximately 3,600 matches over a week. The tournament features players aged from under-8 to under-18, including girls' teams starting from under-9, and showcases clubs from countries such as Spain, the USA, Canada, Australia, and South Africa. The event began with a vibrant parade through the city center, starting at Ulster University's Magee campus and culminating at Guildhall Square, where officials including the Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council officially opened the tournament. Organizers highlighted the Foyle Cup’s role in promoting community spirit, international friendship, and youth development in football, while also contributing significantly to the local economy, valued at over £8 million.
