Northport Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash Tuscaloosa County

Michael S. Channell, a 72-year-old man from Northport, died following a single-vehicle crash in Tuscaloosa County. The accident occurred at approximately 4:27 p.m. on October 24 on Tuscaloosa County Road 140 near Sipsey Valley Road, about two miles southeast of Buhl. Channell's 2006 Volkswagen Beetle left the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned. He was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa for medical treatment but succumbed to his injuries the following day. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division is actively investigating the cause of the crash, and no additional details have been released at this time.
