Majority of Americans Approve Recent Supreme Court Rulings Poll
Public confidence in the U.S. Supreme Court has increased to 67% following a significant drop after the 2022 Dobbs ruling, with confidence rising among Republicans, Democrats, and independents, although concerns about the Court having too much power have also grown, particularly among Democrats. Despite this, the Court's overall approval rating fell slightly from 53% in May to 49% in July 2025, driven mainly by decreasing support among Democrats, while Republicans and independents showed modest increases. Recent Marquette University Law School polls show strong bipartisan support for several of the Court's recent rulings, including a Texas law requiring proof of age for accessing sexually oriented websites, which received 75% approval across party lines. Other rulings such as due process for deportation cases and bans on gender-transition treatments for minors received mixed but generally majority support, with notable partisan divides, especially among Democrats. Most respondents supported a majority of the seven surveyed Supreme Court decisions, though many disagreed with at least some rulings, indicating nuanced public opinion on the Court’s work. Overall, while approval of the Court as an institution is somewhat divided, many recent decisions enjoy significant public backing across the political spectrum.
