Arizona Man Arrested After Allegedly Shooting Yuma Sheriff Helicopter
On June 13, 2025, Mubarak Prince, a 51-year-old man from Dateland, Arizona, was arrested after allegedly shooting at a Yuma County Sheriff's Office helicopter during routine aerial patrols. Deputies onboard the Bell 505 helicopter heard impacts and observed debris inside the cabin, with one deputy spotting a person outside pointing at the aircraft. The helicopter was safely landed, and a projectile puncture confirmed it had been struck by gunfire. Prince was charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder following a search warrant served at his property by multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Yuma Police Department and U.S. Border Patrol. No deputies were injured in the incident. Authorities are seeking additional information from the public to aid in their ongoing investigation.
