Bread Recall Across 6 States After Glass Fragments Found

Upper Crust Bakery, also known as Crest Hill Bakery, has recalled three bread products—Ancient Grains Hoagie Rolls, Multigrain Sourdough, and Whole Grain Multigrain Bread—after glass fragments were discovered on some loaves. The recall affects 818 cases distributed in California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, with the contamination traced to a lot of sunflower seeds from a New Jersey-based supplier. The recall is classified as Class II by the FDA, meaning consumption could cause temporary or medically reversible health problems, but no injuries have been reported. All affected products have been removed from store shelves, and the bakery has ceased using sunflower seeds from the implicated supplier. Consumers are advised to discard or return the recalled products for a refund. The incident marks Crest Hill Bakery’s first-ever recall and highlights the importance of vigilance in food safety.
