Microsoft, AMD Expand Xbox Partnership to Handhelds, Cloud

Microsoft has announced a strategic multi-year partnership with AMD to co-engineer silicon for its next-generation Xbox lineup, encompassing consoles, handhelds, and cloud gaming hardware. The collaboration aims to deliver advanced graphics, AI-powered capabilities, and full backward compatibility with existing Xbox game libraries. Xbox president Sarah Bond highlighted that the future Xbox platform will be accessible across multiple devices and stores, not tied to a single ecosystem. The partnership will leverage Windows as a core element, reinforcing Microsoft's goal to make Windows the leading platform for gaming. Microsoft also confirmed plans to develop a first-party Xbox handheld device powered by AMD, following its recent work with Asus on the Xbox Ally. No release dates were announced, but Microsoft indicated more details would be shared soon.
