Belfast City Marathon 2025 Expected to Draw Over 22,000 Runners

The 2025 Belfast City Marathon, taking place on May 4, is expected to draw its largest-ever field, with over 22,000 participants. The 26.2-mile route will wind through all parts of Belfast, resulting in extensive road closures and changes to public transport timetables across the city. To support runners and spectators, free shuttle buses (excluding rail services) will operate between key locations, and special early morning train services will run, while free parking is available at the Stormont Complex. BBC Northern Ireland will provide five hours of live coverage across multiple platforms, featuring stories from various participants, including fundraising efforts by groups like St Gerard's Special School, which has mobilized over 145 members of its community. The broadcast will also include messages of encouragement submitted by supporters. Many taking part, such as those from the school community, are running to raise funds for local causes and charities.
