The service offers a simplified app interface with larger text and fewer options, live phone support with US-based agents, and prioritizes vehicles that are easier to enter and exit. Family members and caregivers can track rides, pay for trips using Lyft Cash, or schedule rides through Lyft Concierge on behalf of their loved ones. Developed with input from aging experts and advocacy organizations, Lyft Silver aims to address both mobility and social isolation among seniors while supporting their independence. The program launches in early access across select cities, with plans for nationwide expansion, and includes partnerships with community organizations to provide discounted rides for qualifying seniors. Lyft’s initiative responds to internal findings that a majority of older adults report low tech savviness, seeking to reduce barriers and promote confidence in using ride-hailing services.
