Nordic Nations Plan Joint Acquisition of CV90 Combat Vehicles

Sweden, Lithuania, Norway, and Finland are considering a coordinated purchase of several hundred CV90 infantry combat vehicles from BAE Systems, as announced by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson during a joint press conference with Lithuania's Prime Minister. The collaboration aims to strengthen regional defense in response to increasing security concerns following the Russian invasion of Ukraine and heightened expectations from the U.S. for European NATO allies to enhance their military capabilities. A formal statement of intent for cooperation is currently being drafted, reflecting the urgency and significance of the acquisition for the national armed forces of the participating countries. The CV90 vehicles are produced by a Sweden-based subsidiary of BAE Systems, Europe's largest defense company.
