Saudia Airlines Flight Diverted Indonesia Following Fake Bomb Threat to Hajj Pilgrims

A Saudia Airlines flight SV-5276 carrying 442 Indonesian Hajj pilgrims from Jeddah to Jakarta was diverted to Kualanamu International Airport in North Sumatra on June 17, 2025, following a bomb threat sent via email. The threat, which contained ideological and terrorist-sounding content, was received by the Indonesian National Police's Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) at 7:30 AM Jakarta time and prompted an emergency landing for security reasons. Authorities, including Densus 88 and local police bomb disposal teams, conducted thorough inspections of the aircraft but found no physical evidence of explosives. Coordination between Indonesian and Saudi Arabian authorities is ongoing as investigators work to trace the origin and motive behind the threat, with suspicions that the sender may be a foreign national. After being cleared as safe, the flight resumed its journey to Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta on June 18 without any special treatment upon arrival.
