Police Arrest Man After High-Speed Stinger Chase of Stolen BMW Across Northern Ireland Roads

Police in Northern Ireland arrested a 24-year-old man after a high-speed pursuit involving a stolen black BMW originally reported stolen in Dublin. The vehicle was first spotted on the A1 near Jonesborough and tracked with the help of the PSNI Air Support Unit. Officers deployed a stinger device to puncture the tires in the Hillsborough area to prevent a dangerous chase, but the BMW continued driving on deflated tires along the M1 at speeds exceeding 80 mph, weaving through traffic and even using the hard shoulder. The pursuit ended when the Armed Response Unit safely stopped the vehicle between Lisburn and Black's Road. The driver was arrested on multiple charges including dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, handling stolen goods, driving without a license, and no insurance. One officer sustained minor injuries during the arrest, but no serious harm was reported.
