Northwestern Lacrosse, Basketball Stars Finalists Big Ten Athlete Awards

The 2024-25 academic year showcased outstanding achievements by student-athletes across multiple colleges and sports. Five Binghamton Women's Lacrosse players received College Sport Communicators Academic All-District honors for excelling both in competition and academics, maintaining at least a 3.50 GPA. Cleveland State lacrosse athletes earned recognition on the Northeast Conference's Academic Honor Roll and Commissioner's Honor Roll, reflecting their strong academic performances with GPAs above 3.20 and 3.75 respectively. Northwestern athletics highlighted exceptional individual performances, with lacrosse attacker Madison Taylor setting NCAA records and basketball forward Nick Martinelli leading the Big Ten in scoring, both becoming finalists for the Big Ten Male and Female Athlete of the Year Awards. Taylor's record-breaking 109 goals and 158 points helped lead Northwestern to the national lacrosse championship game, while Martinelli's scoring surge propelled the basketball team to its third consecutive winning record. Additionally, regional high school all-star basketball contests featured standout performances and competitive spirit among players from various Upper Peninsula communities.
