Man Arrested in Walmart Teen Stabbing Death

On Oct. 23 an 18-year-old was stabbed during an altercation at the Highway 80/Whitemarsh Walmart in Savannah, Chatham County, after he reportedly kicked a shopping cart belonging to an older man as the man exited the store. Police found the teen with multiple stab wounds and lacerations; he was hospitalized and died days later from his injuries. Investigators initially interviewed the older man and witnesses and said they would consult the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office as the probe remained active. Chatham County detectives later arrested and filed a murder charge against 48-year-old Delano Middleton, who was booked into the Chatham County Detention Center. The Chatham County Police Department has limited further comment since charges were filed and cautioned that it is the sole investigative agency on the case.
