Floyd Myers, Former Fresh Prince Actor, Dies at 42

Floyd Roger Myers Jr., a former child actor who portrayed a young Will Smith on The Fresh Prince of Bel‑Air and a young Marlon Jackson in The Jacksons: An American Dream, died Oct. 29 at his Maryland home of a heart attack at age 42, his mother, Renee Trice, said. Trice said Myers had suffered three heart attacks over the past three years and she spoke with him the night before his death; he is survived by four children and his family has launched a GoFundMe to help cover funeral and family expenses. After leaving acting, Myers co‑founded the Fellowship Men's Group and ran a duct‑cleaning business; the community group has pledged to continue its mission. A funeral is scheduled for Nov. 3. Health experts, citing OU Health data showing about a 30% rise in heart‑disease hospitalizations among people under 45, urged routine screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar.
