The View Skips Halloween Costumes Second Year Amid Election Focus
For the second consecutive year, the cohosts of The View will not be dressing up in costumes for their Halloween episode, a decision driven by the seriousness of current news topics and the desire to maintain the integrity of their Hot Topics segment. Executive producer Brian Teta and cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin explained that discussing heavy political and social issues while in costume felt inappropriate and detracted from the show's purpose. Last year's break from costumes, which coincided with the 2024 presidential election, led to the highest-rated Halloween episode in four years, encouraging the producers to continue the practice. Despite foregoing costumes, the show will still celebrate Halloween with segments featuring children's costumes inspired by Hot Topics and a special surprise cold open. This shift marks a departure from a long-standing tradition of elaborate costumes dating back to Barbara Walters, but the hosts emphasize the importance of focusing on informing the public over festive attire during critical times. Fans can expect a Halloween episode that balances topical discussion with some fun elements, maintaining the show's relevance and engagement.
