Shenandoah Telecom Names Edward McKay CEO, French Executive Chairman

Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) has appointed Edward H. “Ed” McKay as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2025. McKay, who has been with Shentel since 2004 and has served as Executive Vice President and COO since 2021, will succeed Christopher E. French, the company's long-time President and CEO since 1988, who will transition to Executive Chairman of the Board. French will continue to be actively involved in guiding the company’s strategy alongside senior leadership and the Board. McKay brings nearly three decades of telecommunications experience, including prior management roles at UUNET and Verizon, and will focus on driving Shentel’s growth and innovation. This leadership change follows a five-year succession planning process aimed at ensuring continuity and supporting Shentel’s strategic plan execution. The company provides broadband communication services in the Mid-Atlantic US and is focused on expanding its broadband business amid challenges in profitability and operational efficiency.
