Denton Police Shoot, Kill Armed Man; Four Officers on Leave
Early Sunday morning, Denton police officers responded to reports of a man shooting at unoccupied vehicles in the 1300 block of Oxford Lane. Upon arrival, the man fired his weapon at the officers, who established a perimeter and attempted to communicate with him. The suspect refused to comply and continued shooting toward the officers, who then returned fire, striking the man. Officers administered first aid and emergency personnel transported the man to a local hospital, where he died. No officers or other residents were injured during the incident. Four officers involved have been placed on administrative leave, and both internal affairs and the Texas Rangers are conducting investigations into the shooting, with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office set to release the suspect's identity after family notification.
