In-N-Out Billionaire Owner Moves Family, Headquarters From California to Tennessee

Lynsi Snyder, billionaire owner and president of the In-N-Out Burger chain, announced she is relocating her family and the company’s headquarters from California to Tennessee. She cited difficulties with raising a family and doing business in California, particularly highlighting COVID-19 restrictions such as mask mandates and vaccine requirements that led to temporary closures of some locations. The company is consolidating its California offices and plans to open a new headquarters near Nashville by 2026, while phasing out the Irvine headquarters by 2030. Despite expanding in the Southeast, Snyder emphasized the company will not open locations on the East Coast, including Florida, to maintain its founders’ values and standards. In-N-Out currently operates over 400 restaurants in eight states, primarily on the West Coast and Texas, with Tennessee serving as a new regional hub. The move reflects broader frustration among prominent business figures with California’s regulatory environment and business climate.
