Ex-Coast Guard Charged With Threatening Trump
Peter Stinson, a former Coast Guard lieutenant and sharpshooter who self-identifies as a member of the Antifa movement, has been arrested and charged with making violent threats to assassinate President Donald Trump. According to court documents and FBI affidavits, Stinson posted hundreds of explicit threats between 2020 and 2025 on various social media platforms, suggesting the use of guns, knives, and poison. He called for crowdfunding a contract hit on Trump, offered support for an assassination, and criticized the failed attempt on Trump’s life in Butler, Pennsylvania, in 2024. Stinson used coded language and derogatory nicknames in his posts. He is currently detained pending further court hearings. If convicted, Stinson faces up to five years in prison.
