ADL Finds Only Nine US States Leading Fight Against Antisemitism

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has launched the Jewish Policy Index (JPI), an interactive tool assessing how all 50 U.S. states address antisemitism through legislation, education, and public policy. The JPI categorizes nine states—including California, Colorado, New York, and Virginia—as 'Leading States' for their strong alignment with ADL recommendations, such as Holocaust education requirements and funding for security at Jewish institutions. Twenty-nine states are making progress, while 12 have taken limited action against antisemitism. Colorado Governor Jared Polis emphasized the state's commitment to combating antisemitism through initiatives like the Nonprofit Security Grant Initiative, which supports security improvements for faith-based organizations. The ADL highlights a 344% rise in antisemitic incidents over the past five years and underscores the need for comprehensive policy action at the state level to protect Jewish communities. The JPI aims to empower policymakers, educators, and residents to advocate for stronger protections and address gaps in their states' responses to rising antisemitism.
