Texas Rep. Escobar Named On Minnesota Shooter's Hit List

U.S. Representative Veronica Escobar of Texas revealed that her name was on a list of 45 Democratic elected officials targeted by Vance Boelter, the suspect charged with killing Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, and shooting two others. Boelter, who had notebooks detailing surveillance and plans, was arrested en route to the Texas Capitol with intent to harm political opponents. Escobar highlighted this threat as part of a broader pattern of right-wing extremist violence across the country, referencing recent violent incidents in Utah, Virginia, Austin, and El Paso. Federal prosecutors have filed murder and stalking charges against Boelter in addition to Minnesota state charges. Escobar condemned politically motivated violence and called for national healing, emphasizing that peaceful protest remains vital and that the majority oppose extremism and fascism. She also expressed sympathy for the victims and their families while affirming that she and others will not be silenced or live in fear.
