Real Madrid Defender Faces Child Pornography Charges

Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio and three former youth teammates are facing potential criminal charges after allegedly recording and distributing a sexual video involving a minor and another young woman without consent. The incidents reportedly occurred in June 2023 at a beach club in the Canary Islands, and the investigation began following a complaint by the minor’s mother. The Gran Canaria High Court concluded its investigation, finding sufficient evidence for charges of violation of privacy, distribution of child pornography, and solicitation of a minor for pornographic purposes. All four players were arrested and had their phones seized in September 2023, and Asencio’s February appeal to dismiss his involvement was rejected by the court. The victims have shown symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, and the case is now moving to the public prosecutor for potential prosecution. Asencio remains a first-team regular, maintains his innocence, and Real Madrid has not issued a public statement.
