Liberty Lose Game, Jones Injured Again

Jonquel Jones, center for the New York Liberty, suffered a right leg injury during Thursday's game against the Phoenix Mercury, forcing her to exit in the second quarter after landing on Sami Whitcomb’s foot. The injury occurred just after Jones had returned from a previous right ankle injury that sidelined her for two games. Without Jones, the Liberty lost 89-81 to the Mercury, marking their second defeat of the season and first home loss since last year’s WNBA Finals. Breanna Stewart led the Liberty with a game-high 35 points, but the team was outrebounded 42-32. Jones had contributed two points and four rebounds in nine minutes before her exit. The severity of her injury is still unknown as the Liberty prepare for a challenging four-game road trip.
