X-energy Plans Gaithersburg Headquarters, 525 Jobs, Frederick Testing Facility

X-energy, a Maryland-based advanced nuclear reactor and fuel technology company, is consolidating its two Rockville offices into a new 125,000-square-foot headquarters at Washingtonian Center in Gaithersburg, creating over 525 new jobs in addition to retaining 260 existing positions. The company is also expanding by purchasing a 90,000-square-foot facility in Frederick to serve as its first integrated test and training center for non-nuclear testing, prototyping, and operator training using a state-of-the-art plant control room simulator. This expansion is supported by conditional loans and grants from the Maryland Department of Commerce and Montgomery County, as well as various state and local tax credits.
