Greece and the Balkan region are enduring a severe heatwave with temperatures soaring up to 44°C, leading to widespread wildfires and dangerous conditions. Firefighters, some hospitalized due to smoke inhalation and burns, are battling these blazes with support from EU firefighting aircraft following Greece's formal request for aid.
