GMS Race Cars Acquires 16 SRX Race Cars, Equipment from Ray Evernham

GMS Race Cars, owned by Maury Gallagher, has acquired the entire fleet of 16 to 19 race cars and related equipment from the defunct Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) series, originally founded by Ray Evernham and Tony Stewart. Although GMS purchased the physical assets and equipment, they did not acquire the SRX brand, trademarks, or broadcast rights, and have no affiliation with the SRX series operations. GMS plans to repurpose these high-spec race cars for premium track-day experiences, turnkey customer racing programs, and specialty events nationwide, leveraging their durability and performance qualities. Joey Cohen, president of GMS Race Cars, and Mike Beam of GMS Fabrication emphasize this acquisition as a major step forward for their engineering and fabrication teams. Ray Evernham expressed satisfaction that the cars will continue to be used in new formats, providing enjoyment for both experienced drivers and newcomers. The SRX series, which aired on CBS and ESPN from 2021 to 2023 and featured top drivers from multiple motorsport disciplines, was indefinitely postponed before the 2024 season due to market factors, leaving the future of the series uncertain.
