Former England Captain Farrell Returns Saracens on Two-Year Deal
Owen Farrell, the 33-year-old fly-half and former England captain, is returning to Saracens on a two-year contract after spending a challenging season with French club Racing 92. Farrell, who previously spent 16 years with Saracens and won six Premiership titles and three European Champions Cups, struggled with injuries and form while in France, limiting him to 17 appearances. His return to Saracens makes him eligible again for England selection, after stepping away from international rugby following the 2023 World Cup. Saracens' director of rugby, Mark McCall, praised Farrell's competitive spirit and described him as integral to the club's identity, expressing excitement about his return to a promising young squad. Farrell himself called Saracens his home and expressed enthusiasm for rejoining the club and contributing to its future success. The move also ends Farrell's time at Racing 92 a year early, after the club finished 10th in the Top 14 and missed European qualification.
