Egypt Sacks Coach Rui Vitoria After Africa Cup Losses

After a disappointing performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, including a knockout on penalties by DR Congo, Egypt's Football Association has terminated Rui Vitoria's contract as head coach of the national team. Mohamed Youssef, a former player who has also coached Egyptian club Al Ahly, will take on interim leadership while a permanent replacement is sought. Despite improving Egypt's offensive capabilities, Vitoria was unable to secure a single win in the tournament, leading to an early exit. The EFA is currently negotiating the payment of Vitoria's termination penalty clause.
