Rob Burrow MND Centre Opens Leeds First UK Dedicated Facility

The Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) has officially opened at Seacroft Hospital in Leeds, fulfilling the dream of rugby league legend Rob Burrow and his consultant Dr. Agam Jung. It is the UK's first purpose-built centre dedicated entirely to MND care, research, education, and holistic support, designed with patients and families at its heart. The £6.8 million centre was made possible through a fundraising campaign led by Leeds Hospitals Charity, with significant support from Burrow's friend and former teammate Kevin Sinfield and over 17,000 donors. The centre embodies Burrow's vision of treating patients as people, not just conditions, and embraces the ethos of "Living in the Now," aiming to provide comprehensive care and community support. Construction was completed less than 18 months after Burrow's death in June 2024, and the facility is expected to set new standards of care to be replicated nationwide. The project represents a lasting legacy for Burrow and the broader MND community, symbolizing hope and innovation in tackling the disease.
