Delaware, Texas Police Investigate Fatal Hit-and-Run Crashes

Delaware State Police are actively investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on September 8, 2025, near New Castle involving 38-year-old pedestrian Antonio Almanza-Leon. Almanza-Leon was struck while walking northbound in the southbound lanes of South Dupont Highway, and the impact threw him into a wooded area where he was later found deceased by emergency responders. The vehicle involved, a white Chevrolet Equinox, was recovered unoccupied at a residence, but no arrests have been made. Police are seeking witnesses and any dashcam or surveillance footage to aid the investigation and have provided several contact options for information.
