Canada’s Tajon Buchanan Joins Villarreal on Permanent Transfer from Inter

Tajon Buchanan has completed a permanent transfer to Villarreal from Inter Milan, signing a five-year contract with the LaLiga club. The 26-year-old winger joined Villarreal on loan in January 2025, making 13 appearances, scoring once, and assisting twice before securing the permanent move. Buchanan struggled for regular playing time at Inter, where he was part of the squad that won the 2023-24 Serie A title and the 2023 Supercoppa Italiana, but he only started one game and featured mostly as a substitute. The transfer fee is reported to be around €8.5-9 million, with Inter also securing a 20% sell-on clause. Internationally, Buchanan has earned 51 caps for Canada, playing in the 2022 World Cup and scoring three goals in the recent CONCACAF Gold Cup. Buchanan expressed excitement about returning to Villarreal and competing in the Champions League, aiming to regain his best form at one of the biggest competitions in the world.
