Harvard Medical School Explosion; Officer Tried to Stop Suspects
An explosion shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday on the fourth floor of the Goldenson Building at Harvard Medical School appears to have been intentional, though no one was injured. A Harvard University Police officer responding to a fire alarm saw two masked individuals fleeing, attempted to stop them but was unsuccessful, and surveillance images of the suspects have been released. The Boston Fire Department Arson Unit initially concluded the blast was deliberate, and Boston Police swept the building for additional devices but found none. The FBI has joined Boston Police and Harvard University Police in an active investigation, and authorities asked anyone with information to contact the HUPD Detective Bureau at 617-495-1796. Officials have not fully disclosed the extent of internal damage or a motive as the probe continues.
