US, UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia Call Three-Month Truce Sudan Peace
The United States, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, collectively known as the QUAD, have issued a joint statement addressing the conflict in Sudan, which has caused a severe humanitarian crisis and threatens regional stability. The ministers emphasized that Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity are critical for peace and that there is no military solution to the conflict. They called for a three-month humanitarian truce to allow safe and unhindered aid access across Sudan, followed by a permanent ceasefire and an inclusive, transparent transition process to be completed within nine months, resulting in a civilian-led government with broad legitimacy. The statement also stressed the importance of preventing violent extremist groups, particularly those linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, from influencing Sudan's future governance. Additionally, the QUAD condemned external military support to warring parties as a factor prolonging the conflict and pledged to continue coordinated diplomatic efforts to achieve lasting peace. Support for existing mediation frameworks like the Jeddah Process and the Cairo forum was reaffirmed as part of these efforts.
