Pogačar Dominates Dauphiné, Expands Overall Lead
Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) has won both stage six and the Queen Stage seven at the 2025 Critérium du Dauphiné, extending his overall lead over Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) to 1:01 with one stage left. Pogačar seized the yellow jersey from Remco Evenepoel on stage six with a decisive attack and consolidated his lead on stage seven by breaking away 12km from the summit at Valmeinier 1800. Florian Lipowitz moved into third place overall, while Evenepoel slipped to fourth after losing significant time in the mountains. Pogačar's stage victories mark his 97th and 98th career wins, making him the active rider with the most stage wins alongside Arnaud Démare. The Dauphiné is seen as a crucial lead-up to the Tour de France, where both Pogačar and Vingegaard are contenders. Pogačar praised his teammates and strategic pacing, calling the performances a major confidence boost ahead of July's Grand Tour.
