Subaru Revives STI With Electric and Combustion Concepts

At the 2025 Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo, Subaru revived its STI sub‑brand and unveiled two STI‑badged concepts: the battery‑electric Performance‑E and the combustion‑powered Performance‑B. The Performance‑E is an AWD electric fastback study Subaru says is more than a show car, with front and rear motors, a cylindrical floor‑mounted battery for a lower center of gravity, new suspension packaging and aero‑focused bodywork, though no power, range or production timeline were disclosed. The Performance‑B is an aggressive, near‑production Impreza‑based hot hatch with a turbocharged boxer engine, Symmetrical AWD, visible manual gear linkage, wide fenders, a large wing and a center‑exit exhaust, positioned as a potential rival to cars like the GR Corolla. Subaru and multiple outlets stressed both cars are concepts and have not confirmed production or outputs; some reports say Subaru explicitly denied plans to sell the Performance‑B exactly as shown.
