Maruti Dzire First Sedan With 5-Star BNCAP Rating

Maruti Suzuki's all-new Dzire has become India's first sedan to receive a 5-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP), excelling in both adult and child occupant protection. The Dzire comes equipped with six airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), ABS with EBD, and other advanced safety features. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno, tested in the same round, achieved a 4-star rating for adult protection and 3 stars for child safety, with higher scores for models featuring six airbags. The certification was awarded by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, who praised Maruti's ongoing effort to equip all its passenger vehicles with six airbags by year-end. Currently, ten Maruti models come standard with six airbags, and ESP is now standard across all variants. These accomplishments are expected to set new safety benchmarks and encourage other manufacturers to improve safety features.
