Miss England 2024, Milla Magee, made history as the first contestant to quit the Miss World competition, held in Hyderabad, India, citing exploitation and harassment. Magee alleged that contestants were forced to entertain wealthy male sponsors at dinners, making her feel like a prostitute, and described disrespectful treatment from pageant officials. The Miss World Organization, led by Chairwoman Julia Morley, denied these claims, attributing Magee’s departure to a family emergency and releasing videos to counter her accusations. An inquiry by Telangana officials also reported that the seating arrangements with sponsors were not inappropriate, and no other contestants raised complaints. Magee responded by stating she said what was necessary to leave and that the videos misrepresented her true feelings. Her walkout has sparked international support and calls for investigation, while runner-up Charlotte Grant replaced her in the competition.
