Chinese Tourist Drowns During Unsupervised Dive in Sabah

A 37-year-old Chinese tourist tragically drowned during a diving trip at Sipadan Island in Semporna, Sabah after entering the water without his diving instructor's permission. The victim was among eight divers from various countries, and his wife witnessed the incident as he panicked and sank. A boatman alerted the crew, and a dive instructor found the man unconscious at a depth of approximately 25 meters. Despite receiving CPR and briefly responding, the victim lost consciousness and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Tawau Hospital. The case has been classified as sudden death, with a post-mortem examination scheduled. Authorities are investigating and have urged anyone with additional information to come forward.
