Ellie McCartney Places Seventh at World Championships

Ellie McCartney finished seventh in the 200m breaststroke final at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, after entering the event ranked 18th and advancing as the sixth seed with a lifetime best of 2:23.79 in the semi-finals. The 20-year-old from Enniskillen expressed pride in exceeding her season's expectations by making the final in her debut long-course World Championships. Fellow Irish swimmer Ellen Walshe reached two finals, finishing eighth in both the 200m butterfly and 200m individual medley. Tom Fannon narrowly missed qualifying for the men's 50m freestyle final, placing 12th overall. Other Irish competitors, including John Shortt and Danielle Hill, also participated, contributing to a strong showing for the Irish team. The championships marked notable progress and achievements for Ireland's swimmers.
