Man City agrees £12.5m deal for Rosenborg midfielder Nypan
Manchester City has agreed to sign 18-year-old Norwegian midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg for a £12.5 million fee, potentially making it the most expensive transfer from the Norwegian league. Nypan, regarded as one of Europe's top young prospects and often compared to Martin Odegaard, has made 70 senior appearances and scored 14 goals for Rosenborg, playing in various midfield and attacking roles. The club plans to loan him out to Girona, a City Football Group affiliate, for a season to aid his development before integrating him into Pep Guardiola's squad. Personal terms are still being finalized, with a contract proposed until 2030. Despite interest from Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Girona, Manchester City secured the signing, marking their fifth acquisition this summer following Bettinelli, Ait-Nouri, Cherki, and Reijnders. Nypan has represented Norway from under-15 to under-21 levels and debuted for Rosenborg at 15, quickly establishing himself as a promising talent.
