Snoop Dogg-Owned Ice Cream Co. Sues Edible Arrangements Over 'Swizzle' Trademark

Snoop Dogg's ice cream company, Bosslady Foods, is suing Edible Arrangements over trademark disputes surrounding the use of the term "Swizzle." Bosslady's Dr. Bombay brand launched the Tropical Sherbet Swizzle flavor in 2023, which led to cease-and-desist letters from Edible Arrangements, a company that holds several trademarks involving "Swizzle" primarily for chocolate-covered fruit products. Bosslady argues that Edible's trademarks do not cover frozen desserts and claims the term "Swizzle" is generic in the food industry, commonly used to describe decorative syrup drizzles, originally popularized by entrepreneur Shari Fitzpatrick of Shari’s Berries. The lawsuit seeks to revoke Edible Arrangements' trademarks, asserting that some were fraudulently obtained, and demands permission to use the term on ice cream products. Bosslady also contends Edible misled the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office by falsely claiming exclusive rights to "Swizzle." The dispute highlights tensions between trademark enforcement and generic usage of food-related terms in branding.
